Diabetes - DMO
• Diabetes Outpatient Educational Program
Learn how to successfully manage your diabetes to maintain optimum health. This 4-session program will help you understand diabetes and how to take care of yourself.


Each week's topics include:


- WEEK 1: Diabetes - The Disease Process.


- WEEK 2: Blood Glucose Monitoring and Nutritional Management.


- WEEK 3: Your Medications, Exercise Considerations and Sick Day Management.


- WEEK 4: Complications of Diabetes.


Each week, our certified diabetes educator will also be available to answer questions regarding glucose monitoring and medication.



SPANISH:
Aprenda a manejar su Diabetes para mantener una salud optima. Este programa de 4 sesiones le ayudara a entender la Daibetes y como cuidar de si mimo.



Temas de cada semana son:


- Semana 1: Diabetes - El proceso de la enfermedad


- Semana 2: Monitoreo de los niveles de glucose y el manejo de la nutricion.


- Semana 3: Sus medicamentos, ejercicios, y como manejar la enfernmedad.


- Semana 4: Cada semana, nuestro educador certificado en Diabetes estara disponible para responder a preguntas relacionadas con el monitoreo de los niveles de glucosa y medicamentos.




Registration Instructions:



- You can join the series at any point; You do not have to take the classes in order. However, it is highly recommended that all 4 classes be completed. Spanish Classes are on Wednesdays and English ones are on Thursdays.



- There is no charge for the classes, but you will need a written referral from your physician to attend the class.




- Class is for Type 1 or Type 2 Adult Diabetes


- Not for children under 18


- Not for pregnant women
- ONE guest is welcome to attend with you.


- Must have a completed physician referral form to attend. Please call Phone 209-576-3606 to arrange for this if you do not have one.

• Diabetes Self-Management Program - English
The Diabetes Self Management Program is split into two classes.


The first class of every month covers The Diabetes Disease Process, Blood Glucose Monitoring, Medications, and Risks of Complications.



The second class of every month covers Nutritional Management and Exercise Considerations.

El proceso de la enfermedad diabetica,
Control de la glucosa en sangre,
medicamentos y riesgos de complicaciones. Consideraciones sobre el manejo nutricional
y el ejercicio.
Emergency - DMO
• Stop the Bleed
These classes will focus on:



- Recognizing life-threatening bleeding situations


- Immediate response to bleeding


- Techniques to stop the bleeding (pressure dressings, packing wounds and tourniquets)


- 1.5 CEUs available for licensed staff


- Social distancing practices in place


- Mask required


- A bleeding control kit is recommended but not required for this class. This can be purchased at https://www.stopthebleed.org/shop-kit-tourniquet or online. (Please only purchase a C-A-T ® brand tourniquet)


This course includes graphic content and is recommended for ages 12 and older, or with parents' discretion.

• Breastfeeding Course (ENGLISH)
Feeding a newborn is one of the most important aspects of parenting. Certified lactation (breastfeeding) consultants teach this class for both first-time and experienced parents who would like to review the fundamentals of breastfeeding. The class focuses on practical skills and information.
Fathers and/or partners are encouraged to attend with mothers.

• Childbirth Education Series (ENGLISH)
Countdown to Delivery is a 3 consecutive-week series of classes that will take you through the pregnancy journey.



Class I (week 1) - What Should I Expect in the Beginning?
This class describes some of the changes that take place in our bodies during pregnancy. Our nursing educators will speak about nutrition and exercise, fetal growth, signs and symptoms of pre-term labor, and certain medical conditions you should be aware of.
We will also discuss breathing and relaxation techniques, as well as when you should call the doctor, when you should come to the hospital, what to expect if you are in early labor, and what to prepare for in the upcoming weeks of pregnancy.



Class II (week 2) - Birth, Here I Come!
More breathing and relaxation techniques will be discussed along with pain management; epidural vs. IV pain medications, and birthing process, including pushing, natural labor, vaginal delivery, and cesarean sections. A hand out will be in your packet to help you decide what your labor preferences might be.



Class III (week 3) - Baby's here, now we're on our way home!
Here we review newborn care, some breastfeeding, post-partum care, and going home. Some of the areas covered are diapering your baby, postpartum depression, newborn appearance and testing.

• Infant CPR, SIDS and Home Safety Class
The Infant Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), and Home Safety class is held monthly at Doctors Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) classroom. Directions will be provided to you once you have registered for the class.
Our certified instructors will discuss Infant CPR, home safety issues, and SIDS.



Refreshments are served at each 2 hour class.



Please wear comfortable clothing to the class.



Children under 15 years of age are not permitted during class sessions.



$15.00 per person OR $20.00 per couple

• Preparacion para el Parto

Our tours meets every Wednesday at 5pm.
Small group guided tours are now open for the Women and Children's Center at Doctors Medical Center. Join us for this free tour to preview the facility and answer any questions you might have about delivering your baby at Doctors Medical Center. You may bring a guest and it is not necessary to sign them up for the tour.
