Childbirth Education Series (ENGLISH)

Event Description:

Countdown to Delivery is a 3-week series of classes that will take you through the pregnancy journey.

Class I (week 1) - What Should I Expect in the Beginning?
This class describes some of the changes that take place in our bodies during pregnancy. Our nursing educators will speak about nutrition and exercise, fetal growth, signs and symptoms of pre-term labor, and certain medical conditions you should be aware of.
We will also discuss breathing and relaxation techniques, as well as when you should call the doctor, when you should come to the hospital, what to expect if you are in early labor, and what to prepare for in the upcoming weeks of pregnancy.

Class II (week 2) - Birth, Here I Come!
More breathing and relaxation techniques will be discussed along with pain management; epidural vs. IV pain medications, and birthing process, including pushing, natural labor, vaginal delivery, and cesarean sections. A hand out will be in your packet to help you decide what your labor preferences might be.

Class III (week 3) - Baby's here, now we're on our way home!
Here we review newborn care, some breastfeeding, post-partum care, and going home. Some of the areas covered are diapering your baby, postpartum depression, newborn appearance and testing.
