Parents to be must sign up 4 days prior to Zoom class so that the Prenatal Education Department can contact participants and give parents info on how to attend Zoom class.
A working email address to receive Zoom meeting information and a laptop or cell phone will be needed to join the Zoom meeting. This two hour class meets via Zoom and is for the expectant mother and support person to gain information of the techniques and benefits of breastfeeding. Practical skills, common challenges, and solutions will be discussed to help you gain confidence for a successful breastfeeding experience. Discussion topics include: breastfeeding in the hospital and at home, nutrition, breast pumps, breastfeeding concerns, and support group information after going home from the hospital.
Please register only the mother-to-be.
We encourage mother-to-be to have a support person present for Zoom meeting, but there is no need to register that person for the classes.
We recommend registering for class in the 5th or 6th month of pregnancy, and to take the class during your 7th month.
If further questions please call the Prenatal Education Department at 205-620-8844
Medicaid patients can call 1-877-909-4233 to register for classes at no cost.
