This class is open to the public but is perfect for new diabetics or people who need some basic little tips to get stated managing their diabetes. It is also great for people with pre-diabetes who wish to change their lifestyle to slow or stop the progression to diabetes. Family and care givers are welcome to attend.
Diabetes Nutrition 101 will introduce diabetes and its effects on the body. We will briefly talk about how exercise is helpful in controlling on blood sugars and weight. Then we will introduce foods that contain carbohydrates and how to manage carbohydrate intake to help control blood sugar levels. Handouts will be provided.
