• Gestational Diabetes Management
The Gestational Diabetes Management class is designed to educate mothers who may be presenting as a "high risk" pregnancy due to gestational diabetes. In the class, mothers will learn what is gestational diabetes, the risks posed to mom and baby, how manage the diabetes via proper nutrition and medication, and learn about their optimal glucose range during pregnancy. One support person is allowed to attend. A physician referral is recommended, but not required. A free lunch will be provided.

Bring your medications to Southwest General Hospital and our team of pharmacy employees will review and discuss your medications with you and answer any questions you may have regarding your medications. Lunch provided. *Expired medication disposal is not provided at this event.

At this event, you'll learn more about how you may qualify for affordable health insurance on the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Maternity Services - SW
• Getting Ready for Childbirth Class - SW
The childbirth class is a one day class that helps you prepare for your baby's birth. You will learn about your pregnancy and about having your baby in the hospital. This class is great for every new mother and her support person! Tours included.

These classes are offered free of charge to all mothers who will deliver their baby at the BirthPlace (Southwest Gen. Hosp.) We will be serving lunch at these events, and childcare is not provided. You may bring one support person to class.

• Maternity Tours
The tours are currently conducted upon request and are usually provided in the morning, but we will try to accommodate your needs. Please call (210) 921-8620 to request a tour or for more information. Grandparents are welcome to attend.
• Newborn Parenting Class for Expecting Parents
This class is the same as the Newborn Toddler Class.

The newborn parenting class is a one day class that teaches expecting parents how to care for their baby. The class will teach you about feeding, bathing and basic newborn care.
